Ducks

Every few weeks I find myself sitting alongside one of our nearby duck ponds.
At dusk, the ducks fly in from their day's foraging and gather in groups.
This particular group felt comfortable enough to swim about, clean themselves and go to sleep nearby and around the table I was sitting at; there were no other people around me.

With about a dozen ducks at my feet, one lone male was periodically nipped at by a few of the females; haggard and tired, he eventually walked around and under my chair to find some solitude and a safe place for slumber.
